Configuring manually the /etc/network/interfaces file

To get all the IP information from ubuntu on a working PC just run nm-tool

Commands to up and down the interfaces
ifup
ifdown

For a static IP address

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.X.X
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.X.X
dns-nameservers X.X.X.X

For a dynamic IP address

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
gateway 192.168.X.X
dns-nameservers X.X.X.X

The dns and gateway just in case it doesn’t work at first.
